| Obverse description | Full-length frontal effigy of Saint László (Ladislaus) standing, crowned and bearded, robed in royal vestments, holding a long sceptre or battle-axe in his right hand and an orb in his left. The figure is contained within a plain inner circle, with the mintmark flanking the saint at either side in the lower field. The relief is bold and characteristic of Hungarian hammered gold coinage of the mid-fifteenth century. |
