| Obverse description | Central device features the crowned Hungarian royal arms — a quartered shield displaying the Árpád stripes and the apostolic double cross on a mount — within a beaded inner circle. Mint letters F and G appear flanking the shield to left and right respectively. The surrounding legend reads IOANNES∗DEI∗G∗REX∗HVNGARIE∗, identifying John (Zápolya) by the grace of God as King of Hungary. The lettering is rendered in Gothic characters within a beaded border. The overall style is consistent with the hammered gold coinage of the Hungarian royal tradition. |
