| Obverse description | Armored figure of John of Bavaria standing facing in the field, holding a raised sword in his right hand, flanked to the left by a rampant lion and to the right by the quartered Bavarian lozenge arms. The design is executed in the Gothic hammered style typical of late 14th-century Low Countries gold coinage. The figure occupies the central field, with heraldic supporters lending a formal, princely character to the composition. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the surrounding Latin legend. |
