Reverse description Imperial double-headed eagle displayed, with both heads facing outward and crowned by a single large imperial crown at the top of the coin, rendered in the vigorous hammered style typical of late sixteenth-century Rhenish gold coinage. The eagle's wings are spread wide, with detailed feathering across the breast and flight feathers, and the talons are visible at the base. The last two digits of the date (81) are incorporated into the circular Latin legend surrounding the eagle, which is itself contained within a beaded inner border.
