Obverse description The heraldic lily of Florence (giglio fiorentino) rendered in high relief at centre, with finely crosshatched petals on the upper lobes and seed pod, displayed frontally with symmetrical foliate scrolls curling outward at the base and sides. The fleur-de-lis rises from a hatched bulb and is flanked by additional smaller foliate elements, filling the field in a bold, stylised Gothic manner. The circular legend reading FLOR ENTIA runs along the periphery, separated by a cross pattée, in Gothic script characteristic of late 13th-century Florentine die work.
