Obverse description The Missouri state seal in high relief, featuring a quartered shield supported by two grizzly bears, surmounted by a crested helmet with a spread eagle above. The shield displays a grizzly bear and a crescent moon in the upper quarters, and a grizzly bear and the arms of the United States in the lower quarters. An arc of 24 stars appears in the upper field, and a ribbon legend encircles the central device. The mint mark FM and the Roman numeral date MDCCCXX appear in the lower field.
