Obverse description A spread eagle in high relief at centre, bearing on its breast the shield with the arms of Neuchâtel; behind, a crossed rifle and Swiss cross. Below the eagle, two laurel branches flank a ribbon banner, with the designer and engraver signatures in the lower field. The circumference is bordered by a wreath of laurel leaves, and the legend curves along the upper portion of the field.
