Reverse description A frontal standing figure of Hercules, nude and wearing the lionskin (léonté) draped over his arm, occupies the center of the field. He unites two allegorical female figures: Liberty standing to his left, holding a pike surmounted by a Phrygian cap, and Equality to his right, holding a set square or level. The patriotic legend 'LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ' encircles the composition along the periphery, following the design originally created by Auguste Dupré.
