| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of Marianne wearing a Phrygian cap, her hair loosely arranged, engraved in the style of A. Patey. The circumferential legend reads RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE, with the engraver's signature A.PATEY appearing in the lower field. The overall relief is notably soft and ill-defined, consistent with the cast manufacture of this contemporary counterfeit. The flan exhibits irregular edges and a granular surface texture characteristic of cast forgeries of the period. |
