Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King William IV, modelled by William Wyon, with naturalistically rendered hair and aged facial features. The truncation of the bust is cleanly cut. The legend GULIELMUS IIII DEI GRATIA arcs around the upper periphery in Latin characters, while the date 1835 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the portrait. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the design.
