| Reverse description | A large St. Edward's Crown occupies the central field, depicted in fine relief with fleurs-de-lis and cross pattée surmounting the arches. The date 1936 is inscribed to the upper left of the crown, flanked on either side by a decorative wreath composed of Tudor roses, Scottish thistles, and shamrocks. The circumferential legend, interrupted by lozenge-shaped stops, reads in abbreviated Latin around the periphery, with the royal cypher EDW. VIII appearing in the lower arc. The word TRIAL is incorporated into the legend, identifying this piece as a pattern or trial striking. |
