Obverse description Uncrowned bare-headed effigy of King Edward VIII facing right, rendered in high relief after the design by Percy Metcalfe. The portrait is set within a beaded inner border, with the royal legend arranged in a continuous arc around the periphery of the field. The inscription reads EDWARDVS VIII D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: MCMXXXVI P.M., incorporating the regnal year in Roman numerals. The overall composition reflects the proposed but never-issued coinage designs intended for Edward VIII's reign.

Reverse description A large Tudor crown in high relief dominates the center of the field, surmounted by the date 1936 flanked on either side. The crown is encircled by an elaborate naturalistic wreath composed of national floral emblems of the United Kingdom — the English rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh leek, and Irish shamrock — rendered with fine botanical detail. The peripheral legend, interrupted by floral sprigs, reads FID · DEF · IND · IMP · EDW. VIII · TRIAL, with the word TRIAL appearing in small lettering in the lower left field. A continuous beaded border frames the entire design, and fine milling is visible at the rim.
