Additional information

Edward VIII abdicated in December 1936 before any circulating coinage bearing his effigy was officially issued, making every "Edward VIII" coin either a pattern, a trial, or — in most cases — a modern fantasy piece. The original 1936 Wreath Crown was prepared by the Royal Mint as a pattern during his brief reign but never struck for circulation. This 2017 pewter piece is a contemporary fantasy restrike in that tradition, not a period artifact.

Pewter composition places it firmly outside any pretense of official status.
