Reverse description A large St. Edward's Crown dominates the central field, rendered in fine detail with fleurs-de-lis and cross pattée at its apex, surmounted by the date 1936 in large numerals. The crown is encircled by an elaborate wreath composed of Tudor roses, thistles, shamrocks, and oak leaves, representing the four nations of the United Kingdom. The outer legend, separated by lozenge stops, reads .FID. .DEF. .IND. .IMP., and the inscription .EDW. VIII. appears at the base flanking a Tudor rose, with the word TRIAL incuse on the lower band of the crown. A fine milled border runs along the rim.
