| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Edward VIII facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and strong facial features. The uncrowned bust truncates at the neck with a clean cut, consistent with the unconventional left-facing portrait proposed for Edward VIII coinage. The circular Latin legend EDWARDVS VIII D : G : BR : OMN : REX runs around the periphery, separated by dot stops. The engraver's initials HP appear in small incuse letters at the lower right of the bust truncation. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
