| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Emperor Nicholas I, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair. The truncation is unadorned. A circular Cyrillic legend surrounds the portrait, reading from lower left to upper right and interrupted at the base by the engraver's signature. The artist's name, Г. ѲЕОДОР. ТОЛСТОЙ, appears in small letters at the lower field, attributing the design to Count Fyodor Tolstoy. |

| Reverse description | Central device comprising the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed, each head surmounted by a small crown, the whole topped by a large Imperial crown. The eagle bears on its breast a shield depicting St. George and the Dragon, and holds a sceptre in the right talon and an orb in the left. The wings are spread and decorated with six armorial shields. The denomination numeral 1 appears to the left of the eagle and 1/2 to the right. The date 1832 ГОДА (year) arcs across the upper field, and the legend МОНЕТА РОСС. (Russian coin) curves along the lower field. The rim bears a continuous border of fine dentils. |
