Zaydan al-Nasir's reign over the Sa'adian sultanate was marked by near-constant fratricidal conflict — he spent as much energy fighting his own brothers for control of Morocco as he did managing relations with the Ottomans and the Spanish. Copper falus coinage of this period was struck to meet local market demand that silver and gold issues could not efficiently serve, and Marrakesh's mint remained the more productive of the surviving Sa'adian facilities after Fez repeatedly changed hands during the succession wars.
The A#571R attribution places this among the rarer documented falus varieties of his reign.
