Obverse description Central field bearing the name of Sultan Muhammad III in Arabic script arranged in three stacked lines, with the Hijri date 1191 (corresponding to 1777 CE) inscribed beneath in large Eastern Arabic numerals. The legends are rendered in a bold, crude hammered style typical of Moroccan falus coinage of the period. The flan is irregular and slightly broader than the die, with a plain, undecorated rim and a heavily textured field showing characteristic hammer-struck surface irregularities.
