Reverse description Arabic legend in multiple horizontal lines across the field, bearing the name and titles of Sultan Shams-ud-din Ibrahim Shah of the Jaunpur Sultanate (r. 1402-1440). The inscription is rendered in a bold, somewhat crude Naskh-style script typical of provincial sultanate copper coinage of the early fifteenth century. The flat, irregular flan and hammered strike are consistent with local mint production. Green cuprite patination covers much of the reverse field.
