Reverse description The reverse bears a Persian-script legend distributed across the field, recording the mint name Isfahan (اصفهان) and the AH date 1271, identifying the place and year of issue. The inscription is arranged in the typical informal layout found on hammered Isfahan fulus of this series. According to Stephen Album's Checklist of Islamic Coins, Album #3237 represents the normal strike from the Isfahan mint, rated Scarce, while Album #3237A designates a prestigious strike on specially prepared broad flans — sometimes round, hexagonal, or octagonal — produced from approximately AH 1080 to 1130, rated Rare. Prestigious-strike examples are commonly found holed, as they were intended for decorative use.
