| Obverse description | Central field contains multiple horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic inscription citing the ruler Mansur ibn Ahmad, arranged in three or four registers within a plain inner border. A dotted inner circle separates the central legend from the marginal field, which contains a circular Kufic inscription running along the inner edge of a beaded outer border. The die-struck legends display the angular, monumental character typical of late 10th-century Transoxianan Qarakhanid copper coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly off-centre, consistent with hand-hammered production. |
