Obverse description Armored horseman depicted in profile to the right, mounted on a striding horse, with a spear or lance carried over the shoulder. The figure is rendered in a flat, stylized manner characteristic of Seljuk copper coinage of the early 13th century. The field is plain, and the overall design reflects the martial iconography associated with the Rum Seljuk sultans. The irregular flan and hammered technique result in some weakness in the peripheral detail.
