Reverse description Reverse field bearing a two-line Arabic inscription enclosed within a rectangular cartouche or linear border, reading 'al-Imam al-Musta'sim / Billah Amir al-Mu'minin,' invoking the name and title of the Abbasid Caliph al-Musta'sim (r. 1242–1258), as was customary on Seljuk coinage acknowledging Abbasid suzerainty. The legends are struck in a bold but somewhat uneven manner across the irregular flan, with the cartouche partially visible on this example. The overall style is consistent with the anonymous copper fals series of the Rum Sultanate.
