| Obverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic religious or administrative inscription arranged in horizontal lines within a plain inner circle. The legends are executed in the angular Kufic script typical of early Abbasid-influenced coinage of Central Asia. A marginal legend in Arabic Kufic script encircles the central field, running along the outer border of the flan. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, characteristic of hammered copper coinage of the Samanid period. The overall design follows the aniconic epigraphic tradition of Islamic coinage. |
