Obverse description Central field contains the Shahada in multiple lines of Kufic Arabic script, reading 'There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner.' The inscription is arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner border. An outer marginal legend encircles the central field, separated by a beaded or rope border. The overall style is consistent with early Islamic epigraphic coinage of the Maghreb, with no figural imagery. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, characteristic of hammered copper production of the period.
