| Obverse description | Central field bears a schematic scepter or staff device flanked by Kufic legends proclaiming the Kalima (Islamic profession of faith). The name and title of the governor Yahya ibn Salama al-Kalbi are inscribed across the field in angular Kufic script. An outer marginal legend carries the opening of the mint formula. The overall design is typical of early Andalusian Umayyad fulus, characterized by purely epigraphic composition without figurative imagery. |
