| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription arranged in three or four horizontal lines within a roughly circular flan, characteristic of early Umayyad anonymous copper coinage. The script is executed in a simple, angular Kufic style typical of provincial mint production. No figural imagery is present, reflecting the aniconic reform coinage introduced under Abd al-Malik. The legend is contained within the field without a formal border, with the irregular flan edges partially cutting off peripheral text. The overall strike is slightly off-center, as is common for hammered fals of this period. |
