| Reverse description | Central device consists of a pentagram (five-pointed star) contained within a linear or beaded circle, a geometric motif employed on numerous Umayyad fulus of the Syrian mint series. The exergual area is plain, while a Kufic Arabic mint legend encircles the design counterclockwise along the outer rim, identifying the place of striking. The epigraphy is consistent with the angular, monumental Kufic style of early eighth-century Islamic coinage. |
