Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Kufic Arabic religious inscription arranged in horizontal registers, reading the Shahada or similar Islamic formula. The inscription is enclosed within a circular marginal legend in Arabic script running along the inner border. The overall style is characteristic of early Abbasid anonymous copper coinage struck at provincial mints, with somewhat irregular flan and bold, angular Kufic letterforms. The field shows natural porosity consistent with cast or hammered copper of the period.
