| Obverse description | Central field bears a three-line Kufic Arabic inscription arranged within an undecorated square or rectangular frame. The legend reads the shahada formula affirming the oneness of God. The lettering is characteristic of early Umayyad epigraphy, with angular, unpointed Kufic script. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hammered provincial copper coinage of the period. The field surrounding the inscription shows a slightly granular surface consistent with copper fals of the Syrian mint tradition. |
