| Reverse description | Central field displays a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription within a square cartouche or linear border, a hallmark of post-reform Umayyad fals coinage. The reverse legend identifies the mint authority and likely includes the name of the governor al-Walid b. Talid and the mint of al-Mawsil (Mosul). The script is angular Kufic, consistent with early 8th-century provincial copper coinage of the Jazira region. The surrounding field is plain with minor die wear and flan irregularities typical of hammered copper issues. No decorative border or pellet ring is present. |
