Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Arabic inscription naming the sultan, arranged in horizontal registers separated by two lines of pellets. The entire composition is enclosed within a border of pellets. The inscription identifies the ruler by his regnal title and lineage, reading vertically from top to bottom in a formal Naskh-style hand typical of mid-14th century Mamluk coinage.
