| Obverse description | Central device depicting a stylized solar face or radiate head enclosed within a square frame, surrounded by radiating rays or flame-like projections filling the inner field. The composition is characteristic of Artuqid figural coinage, which drew on Byzantine and Seljuk iconographic traditions. A border of pellets or rope-like beading encircles the design, and traces of Arabic legend are visible in the margins. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered copper issues of this dynasty. |
