Obverse description Central field bears a two-line Arabic inscription in Naskh script reading 'al-Malik al-Ashraf' (The King Ashraf), referring to Sultan al-Ashraf Sha'ban II. The legend is set within an ornamental border that frames the entire design. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, typical of hammered Mamluk copper coinage of the period. The surfaces show areas of green patination consistent with long-term burial or circulation.
