| Reverse description | Stylized Celtic horse prancing to the left, rendered in the abstracted La Tène manner with a beaded mane and exaggerated limbs. Beneath the horse, a prominent wheel or rondel with a central star motif occupies the lower field, a symbol frequently associated with solar or divine imagery on Belgic coinage. Scattered pellets and curvilinear elements fill the surrounding field. The inscription ARDA appears in the exergue below the horse, identifying this issue with the Treveri tribe. The composition follows the standard convention of late Gaulish gold staters derived ultimately from the Philip II stater prototype. |
