Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Louis XIV facing right, wearing a long flowing wig, with the royal mantle visible at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the grand baroque style characteristic of late-reign portraiture. The circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, reading LVD. XIIII. D G FR. ET. NAV. REX., identifying the king as Louis XIV by the grace of God, King of France and Navarre. The field shows the typical wear patterns of a circulated milled silver coin of the period.

Reverse description Crowned oval shield bearing the quartered arms of France (fleurs-de-lis) and Dauphiné (a dolphin), flanked by two crossed scepters placed diagonally behind the escutcheon, forming the distinctive insignia type. A royal crown surmounts the shield. The circular Latin legend SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM is interrupted by the date 1702 at the top of the field. The mint mark Z for Grenoble appears in the legend, reflecting the Dauphiné provincial attribution of this emission.
