| Obverse description | Draped and cuirassed bust of Louis XIV facing right, portrayed with long flowing wig in the style of his mature effigy. The king wears armour with elaborate drapery over the shoulder, rendered with fine engraved detail characteristic of Joseph Roëttiers. A six-pointed star appears in the lower field beneath the bust. The peripheral legend encircles the effigy, separated by a beaded inner border from the milled edge. |

| Reverse description | Crowned coat of arms bearing the quartered shield of France (fleurs-de-lis) and Navarre (chain of Navarre), with the addition of the arms of Béarn at the base, all flanked by two palm branches crossing below the shield. The royal crown surmounts the shield, and the date appears within the circular legend. The design is characteristic of the reformed coinage of Louis XIV for the Béarn mint. |
