| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned heraldic shield of Louis of Berlaymont, Archbishop of Cambrai, composed of horizontal bars with repeated crenellated motifs, surrounded by elaborate Renaissance foliate and scroll ornamental mantling. A crested helm surmounts the shield, topped by a lion passant. The circular legend in Latin reads around the periphery, identifying the issuer by name and title. The overall design is characteristic of late sixteenth-century ecclesiastical coinage of the Spanish Netherlands, with bold relief hammered execution. |
