The 500 Francs Pascal series — issued from 1968 and designed by Claude Andru, Georges Duval, and Robert Picart — was printed at Chamalières, the Banque de France's dedicated facility in the Puy-de-Paume. "Échantillon type" specimens were produced internally for training, reference, and quality control purposes, not for general release. This example, catalogued to the 1990–1995 window, would have been manufactured late in the Pascal's active lifespan; the note was formally withdrawn in 1994.
