| Obverse description | Armored half-length effigy of King Stefan Batory facing right, wearing a closed royal crown and elaborately engraved plate armor with decorative pauldrons and gorget. The king holds a scepter over his right shoulder, with richly worked armor details rendered in high relief. A circular beaded inner border frames the bust, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery and the date 1580 positioned at the top of the field. The portrait displays the characteristic Renaissance style of late 16th-century Polish coinage, with strong three-dimensional modeling of the royal regalia. |
