Reverse description The arms of Gdańsk — an oval shield bearing a crown above two crosses patée in pale — displayed at centre, supported on either side by rampant crowned lions facing inward. Above the shield, a royal crown is surmounted by a decorative foliate wreath. Below the shield, the mint initials G and R flank the date 1650 set within an ornate cartouche with scrollwork. The encircling Latin legend reads: MONETA ARGENTEA CIVITATIS GEDANENSIS.
