Obverse description Armored and draped bust of John II Casimir Vasa facing right, laureate, with long flowing hair. The king is depicted in elaborate plate armour with decorative detailing at the shoulder and a decorative collar. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading IOC·A·8·D·G·REX·POL·S·MD·L·R·P·, abbreviating his royal titles as King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania, and Ruthenia. The portrait is rendered in a bold Baroque style typical of mid-17th century Polish royal coinage.
