Obverse description Crowned and draped bust of John II Casimir Vasa facing right, wearing armour with a lace collar and royal crown, his long curled hair falling to the shoulders. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner typical of mid-seventeenth-century Polish royal coinage. A circular beaded border frames the design, with the Latin legend running continuously around the periphery. The inscription reads IOAN CASIM D G REX POL, abbreviating the king's full royal titulature.
