Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Augustus II (the Strong), Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, facing right, with long flowing wig falling over the shoulders in the late Baroque fashion. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and drapery. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait. The circular Latin legend runs along the outer rim within a beaded border.

Reverse description The crowned arms of the City of Gdańsk occupy the central field, displaying the characteristic two white crosses on a red shield beneath a golden crown, supported by two lions rampant facing inward. The date 1698 appears at the top of the field flanking the crown. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the full Latin municipal gold coin legend encircling the design along the outer rim.
