Obverse description Radiate bust of Emperor Vespasian facing right, with a small globe at the base of the neck truncation, rendered in the realistic portraiture style characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage. The emperor is depicted with bare shoulders and a strongly modelled physiognomy, conveying authority and gravitas. The radiate crown, distinguishing the dupondius from the as, frames the portrait with seven points. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPASIAN AVG COS IIII, positioned along the outer border of the flan.
