Reverse description The goddess Roma personified, seated left upon a cuirass, rendered in a dignified, classicizing style befitting the Flavian revival of Roman traditions. In her extended right hand she holds a small Victory figure, and in her left hand she holds a parazonium (a short military sword), resting diagonally against her body. A series of oval shields is depicted in the background field behind her. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) flanks the central figure in the field, asserting the Senate's formal authority over the bronze coinage. The reverse composition reflects the Flavian emphasis on military virtue and the eternal glory of Rome.
