Obverse description Radiate bust of Vespasian facing right, depicted with a strongly modelled portrait showing characteristically blunt, realistic features typical of Flavian portraiture. The emperor wears a radiate crown, distinguishing this denomination as a dupondius. The encircling legend is incised in Latin capitals along the periphery of the flan, reading IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS III. The field is plain, and the portrait is rendered in a robust, naturalistic style consistent with official Flavian imperial coinage.

Reverse description A mourning female figure, personifying the conquered province of Judaea, is depicted seated right upon a cuirass at the base of a tall palm tree, her head bowed in an attitude of dejection and captivity. Various arms and military trophies are scattered about the exergual field. The palm tree, a symbol of Judaea, rises prominently in the centre of the composition. The reverse legend IVDAEA CAPTA appears in the field, flanked by the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) in the lower field. The composition is a powerful and politically charged commemorative design celebrating the Roman suppression of the Jewish revolt of AD 66–73.
