| Obverse description | Radiate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the naturalistic portrait style characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage. The emperor is depicted with his distinctive strong-jawed, broad physiognomy, wearing the radiate crown that identifies the denomination as a dupondius. The draped bust is truncated at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPASIAN COS VIII, running clockwise around the periphery of the flan within a border of dots. |
