| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, wearing the aegis over his left shoulder, rendered in strong relief with finely detailed hair beneath the radiate crown. The imperial effigy is shown with characteristic portraiture of Trajan, including a short beard and strong facial features. The circumferential Latin legend runs around the obverse field. The combination of radiate crown and aegis identifies this as a dupondius of elevated imperial status. |
