| Reverse description | Abundantia, the personification of abundance, stands facing left in full figure, draped in classical robes. She holds ears of grain in her extended right hand and a cornucopiae in her left arm, emblematic of agricultural plenty and the prosperity of the Roman state. At her side stands a small child holding a scroll, a direct reference to the Alimenta Italiae, Trajan's celebrated alimentary program providing financial support for the children of Italy. The reverse legend is divided, with S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI arching above and S C flanking the central figure, while ALIM ITAL appears in the lower field or exergue. |
